Minimum HP after Raise Dead

We will file suggestions here that did not make the cut. Don't expect detailed responses, but the most common reasons are:

  • implementing the suggestion is impractical, or too much work for the gain
  • the suggestion is thematically against our design philosophy
  • the suggestion is too detailed/low-level
Keep your suggestions broad and focused on RP benefits, please, not detailed suggestions of how to fix everything.

Minimum HP after Raise Dead

Post by Batrachophrenoboocosmomachia »

After seeing yet another person get raised to 1 HP by a Raise Dead scroll and then watching them unequip an item with a CON bonus before realising (as we have all done!) and instantly dying, I suggest the following:

When returning to life from the Death area, check if the PC is at 1 HP (Raise Dead was used), and then heal them to 2-5% of their max HP, to a maximum of ~10 HP (or so?) to prevent, or reduce, the awkward insta-deaths as a result of a CON drop from an RP tick or unequipping items.

I understand that being on the threshold of death at 1 HP means that suddenly bleeding out again for no real reason other than being on the threshold of death isn't unreasonable, but I think it's a convenience change worth saving a little bit of immersion for those awkward moments!

Done.
