Thieves' Mark

We will file suggestions here that did not make the cut. Don't expect detailed responses, but the most common reasons are:

  • implementing the suggestion is impractical, or too much work for the gain
  • the suggestion is thematically against our design philosophy
  • the suggestion is too detailed/low-level
Keep your suggestions broad and focused on RP benefits, please, not detailed suggestions of how to fix everything.

Thieves' Mark

Post by Ork »

I believe this has been suggested before, but I really think now with the new Cordor update, this could add more tools for thieves to communicate behind the scenes. Similar to the graffiti placements seen around some of Arelith's notable fixtures, the Thieves' Mark would leave a small, difficult to notice placable against a fixed wall that would only last until the next server reset.

What the mark displays should be restricted to specific commands based similarly on Elder Scroll's shadowmarks:
  • Safe
    Drop
    Danger
    Protected
    Loot
    Empty
The thief could purchase a specialized dagger from an NPC only accessible through appropriate channels, so that a wide variety of classes who ascribe to a certain skill set will have access to the marker. The dagger would only be able to place one mark per reset, if possible erasing a previous mark in favor of a new one.

This new tool would be useful to facilitate dead drops, organize meets, and point out potential secrets otherwise unknown to a skilled thief.
