Okay, so my idea here, is to give extra pull to gods like Tempus, Selvetarm, Toril, Mystra and Gond. Gods with whom you only gain piety in one way and one way only (Aside from the universal piety gained through praying at an altar) Basically instead of getting .5 piety for killing that rat while worshiping Tempus (Who's only domain is War and Destruction) You get 1 full point of piety (Or maybe .6 if you want to be stingy)
The general idea is to make these gods more appealing in a mechanical sense. Why worship Tempus when you can worship Red Knight, be part of the same religion, AND have War and Destruction as well as Knowledge and Invention?
Why worship Selvey Welvy (Selvetarm) when you can worship Lloth, be part of the same religion AND have War and Destructs as well as Trickery and Deceit.
Why Gond, mac-daddy-o of invention, when you can worship Lathander, Red Knight, or any other Knowledge and Invention god, have dual domains, and therefore better piety gain? Not like Gond's dogma involves making new things or anything... oh wait...
Why worship Mystra, goddess of magic, keeper of the weave (You know, that super important goddess every mage ever worships), when you can worship good ol Sa'lune'ay (Selune) and a get hearth and home to get piety from?
Why worship Toril, the embodiment of the world itself, when you can worship any other number of nature gods, actually worship an actual god (Since Toril isn't even a being, just the world itself) AND have another domain to add to the mix.
You see what I'm saying? Now, good role-players will choose these gods anyway, depending on their characters, but they shouldn't have to sacrifice mechanic bonuses to role-play worshiping who they want their character to worship.
Greater Piety from single domain gods.
