Enchanting and Crafting Skills

We will file suggestions here that did not make the cut. Don't expect detailed responses, but the most common reasons are:

  • implementing the suggestion is impractical, or too much work for the gain
  • the suggestion is thematically against our design philosophy
  • the suggestion is too detailed/low-level
Keep your suggestions broad and focused on RP benefits, please, not detailed suggestions of how to fix everything.

Enchanting and Crafting Skills

Post by KregorRanger »

Allow a craftsman, given a product of his craft, and it being placed in the correct crafting station, to adjust the chance of success on an enchantment, based on a fraction of his skill ranks in the craft as a percent reduction in cost, much like Enchantment Foci.

Example, if a tailor with 35 in tailoring puts a pair of boots into a tailoring station, he gets (this being thrown out there simply for example's sake), say, half of his crafting skill as a cost reduction, thus, he would get an 18% reduction in cost, and the commensurate increase in success.

It would encourage true master craftsmen who pump all their skill into a single trade to not only succeed at high DC crafts, but also to get an edge on making more customized, personalized items for someone.
