Sticked General Kudos Thread

We will file suggestions here that did not make the cut. Don't expect detailed responses, but the most common reasons are:

  • implementing the suggestion is impractical, or too much work for the gain
  • the suggestion is thematically against our design philosophy
  • the suggestion is too detailed/low-level
Keep your suggestions broad and focused on RP benefits, please, not detailed suggestions of how to fix everything.

Sticked General Kudos Thread

Post by Manabi »

So, I've noticed that about 70% of the greatest experiences I've had on Arelith are with Characters that are strangers on player names I don't recognize. I'm assuming this is because people go through so many characters to find one that is the most fun for them and shift between player names - but who knows?!

So, I will write that characters name down somewhere, and I will never see them again. I'll check the playerlist every little bit looking for some of these names, but sadly, they never come up. It's then that I think, "You know, that person really deserves a kudos for this amazing thing that they did - this incredibly immersive and fun experience I had with them - but I don't want to use a whole thread to dedicate to one person."

Hm! And that comes with several things! Sometimes I just want to thank someone for one event in a special way - but making a whole thread is well. . . Tasking? A bit much? Something for sure! I just can't think of the word.

So! General Kudos Thread. This thread could be made when we want to drop a kudos to someone who did something really amazing, without having to dedicate a whole thread to them or name 15 other names of people who equally deserve a kudos. Just one name - why we're giving them the ol', "kudos" and then be done with it.

Soon, we'll have a thread filled with hundreds of Kudos and everyone can see what a great job "this" person is doing that they've never heard of. Perhaps some players will see a name of a character that they gave up on and say, "Hey, someone really enjoyed playing with that character so maybe I'll give it another go!"

I thought about starting a thread like this myself - but I wasn't sure how well accepted that would be. So - to the suggestion box.

Pros?

- Players who aren't on much get recognition for the two or three amazing things they do when they're on every week.
- Players hear about characters they haven't met and see that they're doing something amazing. Perhaps feel inspire to get out and meet these people instead of hangin' around the same ol' crowd.
- General Recognition for fun, creative, inviting people who aren't on enough to be remembered in a Kudos (seen it happen to so many great players)
- Quick, easy and friendly way to give a shout-out to someone

Cons?
- Maybe less focus on the regular Kudos Threads? (I somehow doubt it, sometimes you need a shoutout to an entire faction and everybody you enjoy playing with)

What does everyone think?
Owlbears are the only thing keeping Arelith from the D&D experience.

Single posts are fine. I don't like to clutter a forum with stickies.
Consider the kudos forum your general kudos thread.
