Guster Kaline's Farewell

Post by viper92225 »

It has been a good run, but Guster's story and Arelith has come to an end. He has departed the isle in search of those that he cares about. He has been taken in by just about every major settlement at one time or another and made friends and enemies a plenty over the years, and they have all made his story what it was.

I have never done one of these before and to be perfectly honest it would be impossible for me to thank everyone that has made it a joy to play Guster over the years. I would however like to mention some of the people that made my most recent return to my old safety net character so enjoyable.
  • Liira (iria_huntress)
You pulled me back to the server and back to the character with the promise of refreshing RP in the UD, somewhere I had never truly experienced. It has been a wild ride, and I wouldn't have thought to take it without your suggestion. It has been a great many 'blasts' and I owe it all to you.
  • Fadrithiel Zyrustine (Mythical)
Never have I seen a more interesting concept played more perfectly. You somehow turned a tortured, mentally broken, cannibal elf into the someone that made me laugh and smile at an alarming rate. The words "Fadri eats it?" and "comes comes" were a constant companion to my time in the Underdark. I could not help but be pulled along in the wake of your dynamic character, and that resulted in things I would have never dreamed of for Guster. Your willingness to let the world around her shape your character is an inspiration that I hope to aspire to in future characters. Thank you for making me a better role player.
  • Zestra Fuma'Vhid (Miz'ri12)
You and your faction gave me the room I needed to play my character in a way that felt honest to who he was. I was rarely wanting for things to do, or people to interact with. You built an amazing group OOC and held power, sometimes by a thread, with skill and gambles that frequently left me in shock.
  • Ty'al (Broken Hopes Shattered Dreams) & Der'dan (DDstoneyDD)
Interacting with you two day to day was a constant pleasure. Again, Guster was given enough room to be himself with the understanding that there was a line not to cross, and things were going to be interesting for everyone if he had to cross it. You both played your characters consistently and in a way that brought others into your activities. Thank you for keeping me involved and shaping my time there.
  • Hahuko (GreatGospel)
The conversations between Guster and Hak are some of the most entertaining I have ever been part of. You truly brought my favorite half orc to life, and I was always thrilled to see the big guy show up somewhere, looking for teeth to pull. Every trip with Hak was improved by his presence and even the most boring of times in town could quickly be turned around by having Hahuko misunderstand someone's words.
  • Tonky (DSM-IV)
Like Hahuko, I was never unhappy to see Tonky join a conversation or trip. My favorite little lizard came the closest to outting Guster's big secret in the UD, and I wouldn't have had anyone else do it if given my choice. Your character was unique, vibrant, and alwasy incredible to be around. Thank you for all the conversations we had. Guster was happy to lose some of those bets to you.
  • Rauvlin Xun'viir (Durvayas)
You're character was one of the first ones Guster grew to hate upon his arrival in Andunor, but in the end he found some respect for her. Rauvlin had such depth of personality behind her disciplined exterior that it was an education whenever I could see behind the mask. Guster would have killed her in a heartbeat, but he probably would have felt a little bad about it.
  • Kal'ria (Full Moon)
THE quintessential plotting drow matron. You created a seat of power for you character where none existed, and I could easily have seen all her plans or at least back up plans eventually playing out. Your character arrived with an understanding of her position and she revised that understanding as she pushed her way up the power ladder. I was sorry to see you go, and I want to thank you for our interactions.

I am well aware that this list is FAR from complete and only focuses on the characters that Guster had the most regular interaction with in his time in the UD. He had surface contacts, you know who you are, that helped keep him sane in that time, and over the years his life was touched by more characters then I could possibly count, played by those with much more talent for this then I have. Thank you all for making Guster's life what it was, and I will see you down the road with a new concept.

Was lucky enough to see "Gus'er" a host of times over several characters over the entirety of my time on Arelith.

I've seldom seen a player and character that was so easy to bounce my characters personality of off and create entire conversations out of that. There are times I would drop the teeniest tiniest hints of where a conversation could go for a bit of fun and Guster would instantly notice and react accordingly. It's those subtle things that I think make a great character and led me to such an extended stay in the UD.

Guster and Hahuko were a great little double act.

That makes Liira and Guster both retired characters! To everyone I fought and RP'd beside in the UD, it was a blast! Now on to new characters with new stories, and more good times!
