It's not perfect, but there's a lot of great ideas in it. I especially love the addition of more new spells, new weapons and the reformatting of weapon feats. Also the Disarm changes; I hated how it could be used to steal weapons, and was always scared of being hit by the bug that would cause disarmed weapons to entirely vanish.
Stick with it and make tweaks as needed, and I think it could turn into a really great new direction.
Also a kudos for giving everyone a relevel, I can really respect that.
Gonna second this. I have been critical on other forums about some of the details, but that is just it. There are some details that need worked out. I think, the amount of creativity and ingenuity that went into developing this update is astounding. Further, I honestly think that some elements bring the game in line more closely with the immersive experience Arelith aims for. Well done Dev team and thanks for the opportunity to continue to see this game grow.
This update is something which was needed for a long while to remove the shoehoning and build-it-this way meta.
Not everything has to be Balanced as long it is Fun and RP-generating!
Edit:
Love those auto-corrections, Pufferfish is such a great word
Loving the new update, I know theres a lot of hate from the old guard, but this for me is definately a step in the right direction in making arelith not a UMD saturated server
Love the update, everything about it.
The amount of work and effort for it, and then to fix the bugs after it is commendable, fair play to you all.
It's a great sign of the future of Arelith and I look forward to see where you continue to take it.
Thank you!!
I also agree! I know you’re all getting a lot of heat. But to me, these changes encourage more diverse groups to hang out together. It reduces the min maxing of rogue/bard dips and evens the playing ground. Say what you want about that, it’s just my opinion. I like the new items and weapons and I really appreciate all the hard work you’re putting into this!!
Currently playing: Eduard Helbrecht - Active
Thomas Castemont - Shelved
Liv McDowall - Rolled Theodor Helbrecht - Rolled Emma Young - Rolled Ember Joyleaf-Underfoot - Rolled
The grand update may have broken my character, but it has gained my heart
Overall i think it's a ste pin the right direction, and hopefully allow for more diverse characters overall.
Hope to see more in the future
I do like it. I'm looking forward to seeing how it changes perceptions in RP, and I'm looking forward to seeing how the dynamics will change in RP. I think, despite the backlash, it'll bring a new perspective to how conflict is played out just as a minor example.
Some how I totally, missed that this Kudo's had been posted!
I also wanted to add my thanks and support for the large collection of additions in the update. People are not happy to have something taken away, especially when it is something they feel like they deserve. It can be really easy to get lost in negativity, so domt sweat it. And while there are certainly and undeniably needs for balance changes, I agree in saying that the whole of the updates is a great step in a better direction.
Thanks to all the volunteers developing Arelith, regardless of whether we agree or disagree with changes.
Some of the responses I’ve seen on discord and in the forums, while perhaps valid in concept, are written like ungrateful and spoilt children. I hate it.
I always take the contents of any kudos thread with a grain of salt, because they can be very saccharine and sycophantic, layered with subtle ironies and misunderstood sarcasm.
Yes, of course we're thankful for the work put in by volunteers to keep Arelith lively and fun. I would even say that I am pleased with most of the changes introduced by the latest update.
Folks, this is a Kudos thread, if you aren't here to give Kudos or positive comments then please don't post at all. The feedback thread exists for all other concerns.
Thanks.
I'm going to add a genuine and sincere thanks to all the team for this update. The time in development, the hours put in by Admins, DMs, and Dev's before, during, and after the patch to make sure that it gets settled in and that players are supported.
Hats off to the whole team for your efforts, there are those of us that genuinely appreciate your efforts
There's a lot of disagreements from me regarding this update.
But something I've been enjoying a lot is weapon groups, dual wielding different weapons is aesthetic, and makes loot weapons a lot more valuable and fun on the road to higher level items.
