Mark of destiny availability.
It was previously available on character creation, and now requires catching a dm online.
Would be nice to make it easily accessible again.

Another forum ban, here we go again.

Agreed. It would take the load off of DMs.
An -mod command to prompt a dialogue with the option to select MoD (with all its woes and warnings included) maybe?

I've been trying to get one for a few days now myself, at least it prompted me to join the forums to learn more! I realize people are busy, but I feel rather bad about sending a DM message through the channel every other hour that I am on.

The new subdual system is a good argument to reintroduce Mask of Destiny as a character creation choice, but still WITH A BIG WARNING, so people don't mistakenly take it.

Always ask yourselves "how can this be exploited if it's just available for all?"
In MoD's case? I really have no clue why it was removed from character creation. I can understand why -losexp was removed but MoD? *shrugs* its beyond me. Was it really because people picked it light-headed and regret it after?

I am going to assume it was removed because quite a few people took it without fully realizing what it meant. PvP culture changes wildly from server to server, Arelith has fairly lax restrictions on PvP compared to many of the other servers I played.AstralUniverse wrote: Mon May 11, 2020 11:42 am Always ask yourselves "how can this be exploited if it's just available for all?"

It should also be noted that MoD was created in a time where adventure exp was not a thing, you had your RPR, and that was it. The current adventuring exp system basically gives what the old MoD gave, without the 10 lives thing, so it became more of a 'trap'.
I suppose the important question is if the current requests for MoD are superior to the old requests of 'I dont want a MoD after all, can it be removed?', which were obviously answered with a no, and forced the player to continue, or remake the character without the MoD.

Re: Mark of destiny availability.
You make a good point. Mod is what.. 20 exp per tick? This used to double the exp gain per tick for the average player.
Now it's useless lol. I can totally understand why it shouldnt be an option in creation actually. No one should be allowed to be this crazy for no reason.
If MoD returns to be a thing in character creation, it should offer more exp or more lives to reflect the current exp economy and leveling speed, with adventure exp in mind.

Re: Mark of destiny availability.
I would guess it was removed because requests to have it removed or deaths due to bugs refunded were far more common than the marks themselves, so they found it reduced their workload to just make the players ask for the MoDs and therefore actually consider if they wanted it. There's no other reason to remove it.

MoD availability on start up was removed because people rushed through the conversation and then later realized they had selected it or people picked it and didn’t realize the consequences even though there was a warning.
It will be added back as a possible chat command with clear warnings.

Re: Mark of destiny availability.
While on the topic, can the MoD be updated? 20xp per tick used to be awesome, now it isn't so much anymore (as others said above).
Can adventure exp income be increased with the MoD? So it essentially becomes a 20 + 40 xp/tick?

While I'm all for making the rewards of MoD better, I think the real purpose of the mark isn't to gain faster experience points or some kind of advantage, but rather to let a player have a character that is played in a sort of "hardcore mode". It's something many action RPGs let you choose for your character, more often than not without any benefit or reward other than the sense of achievement that comes with it.
