Are weave eaters supposed to be here?
There are weave eaters spawning at the druid stones in the Skull Crags now. Is this intentional? This monster is really, really atrocious. I have no idea how to handle it on level 30 casters, let alone a character I'm trying to level. Considering complaints that Guldorand is overtuned, I'm surprised to see these show up. I really do not like seeing them in the overworld.
Re: Are weave eaters supposed to be here?
You don't handle them by level 30 casters, because they're natural enemies of a mage.Party in the forest at midnight wrote: Sat Dec 11, 2021 3:51 pm I have no idea how to handle it on level 30 casters,
Instead you bash them to pieces with a non-magical character. Heavy Stick + Ample Strength ==> Dead Wave Eater.
If I recall it correctly, skull crags are roughly at the same level as all the other places where the eaters appear.
Another forum ban, here we go again.

Out of curiousity are they casting disjunction (old-school) or the anti-magic area like they're supposed to? A summon should be able to handle them easily enough as they're harmless if you're not in melee range.

So we're very much on track.

They should make any summon that gets near them disappear, and useless.
Re: Are weave eaters supposed to be here?
I was murdering those with a strength ranger. Amusingly, it is also possible to enslave weave eaters with lasso. The money for selling one isn't great, though.Skibbles wrote: Sat Dec 11, 2021 4:22 pm Out of curiousity are they casting disjunction (old-school) or the anti-magic area like they're supposed to? I think weave eaters are great as is anything that compels one to go outside the monotonous mass murder box really. They are very manageable even for mages by my experience though, just not by the conventional hide behind summon and let it smash it to bits tactic.
I can't speak for their purpose in the Skull Crags, but in my opinion changes to spawns in an area is something to investigate in character.

This isn't in a dungeon. This is right by the road on the way to the Weatherstone, the only portal out of Westcliff.
Re: Are weave eaters supposed to be here?
Wait for them to cast their anti-magic aura, because somehow it makes all NPCs in the vicinity hostile to the weave eater. lolParty in the forest at midnight wrote: Sat Dec 11, 2021 3:51 pm I have no idea how to handle it on level 30 casters
Re: Are weave eaters supposed to be here?
Interesting. I had no idea it unsummoned things. I just kind of assumed it was basically like a silence since wards/buffs/etc always seem to remain intact. My bad!

It doesn't unsommon your summoned creatures, it simply makes them vanish. But if you manage to kill them, your summoned creature returns.
In one instance, I waited long enough from afar and my summon came back to finish the job on the Weave Eater. So even as a caster, it's doable to deal with them. It simply requires tact.

This.
Just beat the crap out of them. Their 'physical' stats arent their forte, obviously.
Summons should work fine for that purpose. I dont recall ever losing my mummy dust or planar conduit to any weave eater shenanigans but maybe that was just luck?

Just run in oval circles around it. Your summons blinking in and out of existence often get AOO still.Party in the forest at midnight wrote: Sat Dec 11, 2021 3:51 pm There are weave eaters spawning at the druid stones in the Skull Crags now. Happened to me with elemental swarm. It eats your summons and spits them back out when they die.

Biteback shield spells, get lower AC, get electricity DR.
Lightning shield ends them in a few hits.
They will kill themselves by hitting you and dealing no dmg, or they will aggro other monsters around with their aura, at that point they are nothing more than a nuisance.

Your summons comes into existence as soon as they are out of range too. I use summons to kill weave eaters and I have never made to lvl 20 on a caster beforePing14 wrote: Sun Dec 12, 2021 10:57 amThis.MissEvelyn wrote: Sun Dec 12, 2021 3:25 am It doesn't unsommon your summoned creatures, it simply makes them vanish.
