Severe lag on all servers

I'm experiencing a severe lag on all servers starting since roughly december 31st or december 30, to the point of them being unusable. Occasionally there's a delay between action and response up to 8-10 seconds, and that's without servers being full.

Doesn't look like anything is wrong with my connection. Did something change?

I've not noticed lag, but I've noticed a lot of strange bugs. They seem to have started since the reset yesterday prior to the meeting, but I also wasn't playing extensively on the 31st either.

Some transitions, especially on the Guldorand server, don't react when I click on them. I have to run right up to them, stand on them, and then click. This includes doorways.

I've had weird animation issues where my animations weren't playing right, where my animations were lagged and then played at a rapid pace. This was on surface and distant shores. I didn't notice any actual lag, the server was responsive. This was just visual for me.

There's a weird bug where if I am heavily encumbered and have freedom of movement and haste cast, and I click to interact with something, I will run towards whatever I click on at full speed.

The servers haven't been reset since yesterday, so maybe a reset will fix things.

That's lag hiccup. At least lag hiccup manifests this way as well. For example, you cast in sequence, your character freezes mid casts, and then very quickly goes through the motions as if to catch up.

P.S. Managed to accidentally teleport mid-reboot. *sighs*

It's most certainly not a lag hiccup. My animations were starting to disjoint as well. It was very weird. I've seen lag hiccups before, this was not it. There was no lag at all. Also, relogging fixed it.

In my case the lag nonsense kept continuing through the session and at the end I had hard time achieving anything. Constant hiccups and slowdowns, as if somebody installed a bitcoin miner onto the server. UD is decent, but CnP is very laggy. I also lost summons at least two times due to disconnects.

Am experiencing bad lag as well, though it has not been completely crippling yet. But its not every server, only seems to be surface?

It often happens when the server has more then 100 players.

Maybe link the arelith forest and minmir to guldorand server?

Massive slowdowns usually occur when population hits 89 (250 people limit is very optimistic), but the lag in this case was happening nowhere close to those numbers. Lagging servers had less than 50 people active each.

Can't say I've seen every server lagging at the same time, but Surface is almost always either a bit janky or outright rubber banding.

Maybe it was as simple as steam updating other games or your provider having some winter difficulties, etc?

When the hotbar is "stuck" on Shift or Control, strange things happen like being unable to use numbers on the keyboard for dialogue options. Other strange things occur too.

So, be sure to check your hotkey bar and unstuck it by hitting the respective key again.

Been intermittently experiencing all the things Party said...plus the occasional weird episode where nothing I click on actually interacts, despite being able to move about, cast spells, etc.

It doesn't seem to be lag and relogging/restarting seems to fix it....at least for awhile.

There is still the memory leak that is in the game, that there is a fix with NWNX that hasn't made it on live servers. Usually servers start to experience poor performance as a result around the 20 hour mark of uptime.

We currently have the fix on the PGCC and it seems to be performing better. We just need to push the fix to the live servers and then monitor to see if its the culprit of the lag.

Additional info: On December 28th, there was an additional cause of lag due to a cache chest being full and the Surface was the victim as it is the larger of the servers and more populated. We cleaned that up and the lag that was as a result of it disappeared.

Wonder if there are other things going on? I perhaps should make a bug post, but they seem intermittent and not always reproduceable. For example, I am on right now, have touched nothing (so it is not hot keys), and I cannot interact with any NPCs, yet message boards, shops, and most other things I can think of with a conversation work just fine.

Recently tried a minotaur, so I thought it might be that, but other people seem to be having these issues.

We'll definitely look into this, but it can take time. Sometimes lag issues come from outside Arelith itself.
