Idea: Remove touch attack from Minor Wounds

Given its the best cleric cantrip and the only good one they will ever be getting, its use in pve and pvp is rather impeded by the fact it requires a touch attack which will be pretty much impossible to make on high ac mobs and almost all player characters, to say nothing of low strength casters. Removing the touch attack and just letting it hit auto like the other cantrips would make it much more useful and the lives of caster clerics easier without it being op since it is still after all a cantrip. Thoughts?

I'm not so sure that's a good idea. If we make them auto hit, they might be considered too good and it might make them an automatic choice for clerics every time.

Sacred Flame, the only other damage Cantrip clerics get, is auto hit but its damage is also less, especially at range.

Rather, I'd want Defilers (but perhaps also other caster paths) to have increased Melee Touch AB as part of it's path and/or as path of Divine Favor/Power.

They are getting turn/lvl duration divine power (even if they get smaller AB boost from it) and touch attacks ignore armor, shield and natural AC = the defiler could ~maybe~ struggle landing a hit on a DEXer, but everybody else should be fairly easy to hit.

Note: Blind Fight works on touch attacks and is a great option to help against concealment.

I don't think removing touch from minor wounds is the best solution, but I do think clerics are in desperate need of more spells.

This would also result in a ranged infinite healing option for undead so I don't think it's a great idea.

As a Defiler, I actually enjoy where Inflict Minor Wounds is at right now, and I'd hate for it to be weakened as a result of being made auto hit / ranged.

Sacred Flame is still a good option. Granted, it's lackluster early on due to monsters having inflated levels of HP. And you also don't have easy access to Haste when you first start out. But after level 6 or so, it feels more useful as a Cantrip - especially as one you can spam. If I had to change anything about it, I'd give it a +1 to damage for every 6 levels. Which means every other time you level enough for it to upgrade, it gets extra minimum base damage.

Actually that's not a bad idea, add the +1 per 6 levels to sacred flame, as for the touch attacks... making it so weapon fineness works on them would solve the problem without having to remove the touch attack.
