Goodbye Andunor - Akorae Depature

Post by Eira »

There are hundreds of people I could name and thank, and I am sure most of them know exactly how I feel. I always feel awkward with kudos, as it's impossible for me to get to everyone, as no matter how big or small, all of you have contributed to the last nearly two years of roleplay, and even beyond, given how old of a character Akorae is.

In the end, it has been a long time, and I need a break from her. I debated whether to say this or not, but through playing such a prominent character, my health has taken the turn for the worse. This is not the first time it has happened, and though I hope it will be the last, the fact of the matter is that the more one puts into the game, the more it affects them, for better and for worse.

For the most part, it has been for the better, and while I have not decided whether this is a goodbye to Akorae forever, it shall certainly be lengthy.

That being said.

Thank you to the Iratyva Trade Guild, all of Akorae's family. All those of you who, ingame and out, from a ragtag group pulled together by two simple concepts "coin and freedom", became true friends. All of you players who helped each other through the game, supported each other when an understandably difficult reality became tough. You are wonderful, beautiful, people, and I am proud to have been able to bring you together. I look forward to seeing from afar what you continue on without me.

Thank you to the friends and allies, to the enemies, the rivals, to all the new characters and players I got to meet and play with, and the old. To everyone willing to debate ideology, philosophy, to everyone who was happy to pay an extra ten thousand for a custom description, to those tireless writworkers willing to offload thousands of herbs onto me. To the sailors, the merchants of Andunor, to those who were part of the underground information networks, to those who hung out in Shadovar Trade Post to talk to others, to everyone who were both willing and unwilling to deal with a drow. To those of the Vhaeraunan faith, to the cyricists, the oghmanytes. To all those Imaskari whom I paid hundreds of thousands of gold for dragon blood. To every incessant nerd of the Arcanum, both magical and mundane, for all those wonderful lessons, projects, and lectures. To everyone who has written an ingame book, both factual and fiction. To the people I roleplay with a few times that completely changed my character's life and then I never saw them again.

There's so many and more. Thank you, all.

Fortune favor.

Take good care of yourself and your health. It's been a great joy RPing with you through Akorae. Hardly any shame in breaks; we'll be here for you when you return!

We never got to RP together much, but i enjoyed the bits we got. Get some rest, focus on yourself and your health. Arelith will be here if you decide to come back or not, but it will have a you sized hole.

I never imagined interacting with Akorae, for the longest time we moved in different circles. I don't remember when this changed, and I don't remember how it changed.

And then we adopted her.
Thanks for alot of fun and chaos, and Abyssal Formal Fashions.

Take care of yourself and have a good respite.

Oh shit! I did not see this coming. Sil'avesi and Akorae once had a talk in lower planes outside her citadel or whatever it was called, sorry about that! Bad memory! Sil came in disguise, asking about Akoraes sketchbook. Since she is an collector of strange things and had not been part of the auction, she wanted to see it those in game years ago. But it was sadly missing! But it was an interesting interaction and Sil never knew of Akorae knew who she was or not. She also adviced one of my grumpy Drow once to calm the hell down, something that was essential for her survival.

EDIT: And of course, stay safe and healthy! I hope it turns around for you :)

I have always enjoyed our characters' silent resentment towards each other. It gave a sense of depth to a city meant to feel dangerous and uninviting. I hope your health improves and our PCs can one day again stare at each other with contempt from across the Hub.

Best worst drow.
She better be back at some point. I need her to hawk at strangers and be mildly outraged by the state of Andunor as we grow old(er) together.

Don't click weird links, kiddos.

Overseer!

Underdark will not be the same without you!

May you find your truth like Pneuma taught you! Every interaction, both big and small, in person or correspondence, was a gift that I'll treasure.
All the best for you!

I hope you really enjoy your break, no matter how long or if permanent. We can get really invested in our characters, especially the long term ones and as you say.. When a lot of bad stuff happens at once to them, it can really tear you down and become too much. Ako's a great character and she will be missed no doubt. Whatever you do next, I'm glad to have gotten a little glimpse of Ako and look forward to continued interactions on other characters.

Akorae has been an incredible character to get to know over time and it's hard to articulate the variety of ways I enjoyed getting to know the character. Real life and especially our health always comes first though and while I'm glad for the time that was had I'm equally if not more glad you're making sure to prioritize your own wellbeing. Take care out there!

I don't know how you did half, no, a third, no that's the wrong direction, two thirds of everything you did with her. I'm looking forward to seeing you on your next character!

I've not interacted with Akorae before despite being on the same server for a good couple of years since, i'm a sailing nerd. And i almost only invested myself in sailing RP and for the past 2 years on and off, on the 'good' settlement faction.
But i've heard from other players that i've sailed with, on how outstanding you are. I hope that if you're ever coming back to play, please do come to surface settlement and spread your goodness too. Looking forward to it

Sad to see you go, but I totally understand how much we put into our characters, and how much this can affect us irl. Akorae is and was perhaps one of the single-most important people during my time on Arelith. Without her, Myryl would never have become the character she is today. Whether this is a permanent, or a temporary break, I hope your health improves, and that you have fun!

Akorae was single most important character that shaped mine, when I decided to delve into Underdark for first time. One of most welcoming drow that guided my drow through web of intrigues and invited him into something he could call family. Much kudos for that and hope it's not last time we cross paths here on Arelith.
