Summons not staying in combat
Since the line of sight update, I've had problems with my summoned elemental staying in combat. It could be completely surrounded by things trying to kill it, but will drop combat. Even trying to get it to attack things can be hard, it doesn't always respond to either the attack nearest command, or player tool 1 targeting something next to it.

I have also experienced this. I tried releasing it from the Player Tool 1 and letting the standard AI do its thing but it still just sits there. Targets are not invisible and there's nothing breaking LoS.
Re: Summons not staying in combat
Same problem with both animal companions, summoned creatures and animal henchmen

Same issue here with summoned creatures, and even familiars.
Re: Summons not staying in combat
If possible could you please describe with as much detail as possible the unintended behavior and, if you can, list the steps to reproduce it? The more information the better.

Re: Summons not staying in combat
I have noticed this in the last two days using both animal companions and summons on the player1 tool. Sometimes the creatures will be sent to attack a monster in the group and when it dies, they will attack other members in the group. However it seems almost half of the time, they just stop after that first kill even if they are right within range.
I believe this might have something to do with being disrupted since if anything blocks them whilst walking, they completely stop now instead of trying to walk around it.
EDIT: In addition, even with the player1 tool, the summons are sometimes prone to running back to the character mid fight as if they are done. I haven't been able to find a pattern for any of these.

Same here as well... wont attack and telling it to attack has no effect at all

Re: Summons not staying in combat
I've had this problem for a very long time, nothing new here.
Re: Summons not staying in combat
I have noticed summon AI faults before, but since the update it has happened nearly every encounter. The Elemental stops fighting, while being attacked, regardless of whether I use PT1 or not. It can be forced to start again, but it becomes flat-footed for the time it is not in combat.
As for steps to reproduce I'd say its as simple as go to an enemy-dense location and let your elemental solo all the encounters. It will rapidly become noticable. There are no ways to reproduce it I know except "allow your elemental to be attacked, and kill a target," and that is not necessarily reliable, but it should become apparent soon.

Re: Summons not staying in combat
Yeah summons have always been wonky but I'm going to add my voice to those saying that they are especially wonky now. I've noticed that my summons often just start running back to me as though I had given them a follow command, and then clicking attack nearest will take several tries before the fight again.
Oh the year was 1778...
Re: Summons not staying in combat
All of my vampires, mummies, gated malignant entities, and dwagins have been considerably less consistent in their buffoonery and clobberdonkery.
I think anything at all that breaks LoS instead of merely moving around it just cancels the combat action.

Re: Summons not staying in combat
If you stand between your summons and the target it might trigger it. I thought I was noticing that last night.
Re: Summons not staying in combat
This is the druid nerf, isn't it?
Re: Summons not staying in combat
It seems like the last summon in a group to arrive at the fight is the most likely to avoid combat. So it's possible a summon can block another summon's line of sight or perhaps something else is going on.Archnon wrote: Sat Jul 27, 2019 4:48 pm If you stand between your summons and the target it might trigger it. Re: Summons not staying in combat
Got a screenshot of it happening:
It kills one mob, it makes it's Cleave attempt, initiates its attack and then.... nothing. It is fully engaged in melee with a non-magical bear. It never acted again until I commanded it.

Re: Summons not staying in combat
Could it be on criticals?
EDIT*
It is defineitely on criticals. Maybe something that occurred when they split the non-sneak/noncrit thing. Would upload an image but I do'nt know how due to file size but I recreated it!

Re: Summons not staying in combat
Not neccessarily on criticals. I've just observed it twice after regular attacks (Playing right now).
It also, interestingly, doesn't neccessarily do what the update said, either? At least, I can tell my elemental to attack something that is not in it's line of sight, and even is not technically in my line of sight (faded), and the elemental will cross the whole map to find it. Only once it engages will it disengage.

Re: Summons not staying in combat
Have the same issue, for no reason the summon returns in midst of battle maybe I am able to recreate it soon. This happend with all my summons from tier 1 to 6 so far.
