Tone Down UD Poison Spell Spam

It's great that Poison has been buffed to be useful!

It is now not great that a number of enemies repeatedly cast it in the Underdark, because they now do insane ability score damage compared to previous.

Can a review of enemies with access to the spell be done so that the difficulty is more in line with what it was before this update?

literally every third mob drops ironguts potions in the UD

All of those suggestions to remedy are pretty dumb. Stinger warriors cast poison constantly and increase the difficulty of the dungeon significantly. Lesser restore won't help in the middle of a fight, neg energy potions aren't something you get access to early game, and ironguts only increases your save by 4 (still not enough when you get spammed poison).

Honestly if you find stingers too difficult...well I don't know what to say.

This seems like a non issue to me.

The tone of that response definitely doesn't jibe with it's contents.

Anyway if you need help with a build that can help you handle stingers tho hmu.

Play nice peeps!

I'll just make a lesser version of Poison used by NPCs.

EDIT: NPCs under Level 20 will use the old Poison spell and after that they will use the new one.

Well, I disagree. But I find it interesting that you call viable solutions to the issue dumb, and proceed to chide someone else for snide commenting.

I’ve never had issues with keeping up NEP while doing stingers (No matter the character). People often sell potions of NEP to vendors, and stocking up on 10 before heading to stingers keeps you safe for the entire dungeon. Also, stingers drop NEP potions, so you’re likely to get some or most of your investment back.

I've played several characters through the stinger dungeons and I have not personally had a problem with the poison aspect. Though, that was prior to the recent update. I don't remember being poisoned to such an extent that antidote potions (Sold by vendors) couldn't negate the issue. Has the change really made this method inadequate?

Curing yourself of poison is really easy and straightforward. There's Antidotes and Neutralize poison scrolls, which drop by the masses. Barring that, Healer's kits are also an option, followed by Lesser Restoration potions/scrolls.

All my characters have way too many of the aforementioned scrolls and potions, now they're actually going see use. Surely I can't be the only sitting on +30 antidotes?

One thing - If you're not a summon class, you feel the pain a lot more.

I recently took a level-appropriate non-caster melee character through Stingers again after the poison change, and the difference was noticeable. Unless you're Barbarian McTroglodyte and you have enough con to laugh at the DCs, you will get poisoned eventually and your scores will tank. Given that you already have to pay for kits (something most summoners don't have to do so much) and you have to pay to upkeep your gear (Again, something casters don't have to do really), I can understand how some who don't have the underdark moneygrind down 100% might find it straining on both their pocketbook and their carry weight to be carrying 30+ potions of Lesstoration around. This was annoying with old poison, and with new poison it was alarmingly problematic to the point where you would find yourself getting gibbed out of nowhere because one of the twenty-plus stingers got through on your Nat1 fort save.

Stingers is not a hard dungeon, and never was - but this new change did make it much harder than it was, for its level, especially if you aren't using cube crutches.

Locking this as the issue has been solved for lower level mobs.

I'm concerned by how some of you communicate to eachother either by being passive agressive or just plain insulting. Please stop.
