Pickpocketed items don't go into containers

Post by Riversilk »

Description of Bug Experienced:
When you pickpocket a mob and get an item which has an appropriate container (i.e. a gem, piece of jewelry or scroll), even if you have said container in inventory and the settings is enabled to "add gem/jewelry/scroll to container", the item ends up in the inventory and not into the container.
Someone told me pickpocket has always been like this, but still a bug, i guess.

Steps to reproduce the Bug:
Pickpocket some mobs while having all the conditions described above.

Expected Result:
Pickpocketed gem/jewelry/scroll goes into gem pouch/enchanted jewelry box/scroll case

Actual Result:
Pickpocketed gem/jewelry/scroll goes into inventory

that is because the autolooting system is only for looting, and pickpocketing is not the same system nor the same thing as looting a corpse

it isn't a bug. this would be a feature suggestion. but it is one i agree with, for the record.

Indeed, I've been sitting on this suggestion, ready to spring it as soon as the Suggestion box re-opens.

It would be such a quality of life update for sure.

But OP, here's what I do that can help you. It's not perfect, but it's better than manually having to fill your bags.
Basically, after filling up your inventory with pick-pocketed spoils, find or make a lootable corpse. Open the looting window, drop all your stolen goods that belong in containers onto the corpse. Close the loot window, click the corpse again, and it will auto-loot all of your stolen spoils into their correct bags. Like I said, it's not perfect, but it's better than nothing, at least until we have something better.

This method assumes you've the enabled auto-loot to containers respective options.

That's a clever work around, but is it really quicker or easier than just using the container bags auto add feature?

I should have clarified that you can only do this when you have auto-add to bags enabled in auto-loot options 😊
